Description:
1946 Luscombe 8E in excellent flying condition. Last annual May of 2026 currently being flown so hours will go up. I have all maintenance records from 1946 to current. There was ground loop damage in 1948 repaired by the luscombe factory.
There has been over $25,000 invested in this plane in the last 2 years and is currently in top flying condition. The plane is currently being flown so ours will go up.
I purchased this plane 2024 to use as a tail wheel trainer and it has been a dependable, great flying plane the whole time. It has had extensive annuals in 2024, 2025 and 2026 leaving very little back maintenance to be caught up with. The plane won Best in show in the 1997 Eastern Sierra air show and the award plaque will go with the plane.
The sale includes an extra set of patrol doors, color matched wheel pants, various vintage Luscombe books and memorabilia.
Continental C85 stroker making about 100 horsepower. Aluminum climb prop in excellent condition. Engine had the rear cylinders replaced with New millennium cylinders in 2024. Starter and generator overhaul in 2025.
Mag overhaul in 2026, new exhaust in 2026
The paint is beautiful and I would give the exterior a 9 out of 10 rating. The interior is equipped with Cessna 150 seats with decent but not perfect upholstery, the panel is laminated with teak wood from the late 1940s and that wood is peeling. The original headliner is in good shape but shows its age. I would give the interior an overall rating of 5 out of 10.
