Location: Bayport, NY (23N) | Contact: Patrick Peyton – (631) 838-5797
This 1956 Canadian-built DeHavilland DHC-1B-2-S5 has been modified with a Continental IO-360C (210 hp) engine and metallized wings, making it a unique and capable aircraft in the Experimental Exhibition Category (VFR only). With 2,600 total airframe hours and 550 engine hours, this aircraft remains in excellent condition, with an annual completed in March 2024.
Equipped with modern avionics, including a GRT Mini-X, MGL Razor, Garmin GMA245, and Tail Beacon ADS-B, this aircraft is configured for front seat solo flight, with no rear seat instruments. The main landing gear has been recently serviced, fitted with Cleveland brakes, and currently has the wheel pants removed. It also features a handlebar brake system in both the front and rear.
The airframe remains mostly original, except for the metallized wings and a composite cowling. The interior includes new seat cushions and Hooker harnesses, though the cockpit paint shows some wear. The wing leading edges and cowling could benefit from repainting.
This aerobatic-capable warbird-class aircraft is hangared at 23N (Bayport, NY) and is an excellent option for enthusiasts looking for a well-maintained, classic Chipmunk with upgraded performance. Call Patrick Peyton at (631) 838-5797 for more details.
